Hi, nice page! If you train horses, do they have to go to your place? Because we have 2 horses which are Thouroughbred/Quarter horses which just turned 2 so we were going to find someone to break them soon. How much do you charge?

Hi Cain and Bert! Great website, I really like the idea of posting your training articles on the web (I am forever loosing papers/magazines, but not my computer). I have been encouraging others to attend your colt starting clinic and wish that I had more time to use the knowledge I gained. Your website reminded me that I need to ensure the pony I just bought is respecting our personal space. Take care of yourselves and I hope to swing by sometime. - Laurie Norman

Hi Cain and Bert...Just wanted you to know that the two colts you started for me are working like old pro's out here in BC. They listen, they think things out and have such a willingness to learn new things. What you did with them was really fantastic, and I sure appreciate you fitting them both in before I moved. I can't tell you what a pleasure it is riding them and riding out here. We're looking forward to you coming out for a visit. Thanks again, you guys are great. Don't forget to send me a photo of your gate. Take care.

Hi Cain & Roberta; I have been cery intrested in your training methods for a while, i am always reading your articles in the Show Trail. I was wondering if you needed any help around the ranch, with feeding or helping you out in the arena or on your show dates with warming horses up for you and helping you prepare them for the show. I am seeking experince because i need at some experince before i go to college. I chose to ask you if you would consider allowing me to give you a hand, because i love your ways of talking to the horse and getting through to them. If you could email me back, i would really appreciate it. Thanks! Also well organized website, i really enjoy the pics!

I have been reading about this amazing man and his ability to calm a wild horse to where the horse will trust this man. I have been riding for over 15 years. And I find this so fascinating, I mean I was in 4-H for the longest time and my leader was nothing like this man. I just would like to say I love what you are doing and I am interested in finding out more about your way of being one with the horse. It has been over 7 years since I have ridin and both my boys are in love with horses just as I was and still am. I would love to have them have that ability to have confidence with being around horses like I do. Well thanks, I truly am amazed with what you are doing.

This was my first time to your site and I loved it.My Husband bought me 2 quarter horses a couple of weeks ago, they are my first horses. They are both 2 yrs old and neither have had any work done to them. I have been told that they need a lot of ground work? I try to spend a lot of time with them brushing and sometimes just talking to them. I have been reading a lot and have found that there are a lot of different technices, I am not sure what I should and should not be doing. I would apperacate any comments you might have. Hey Cain, I was just surfing th net when I remebered your homepage and I thought I would drop in. Remember me from the Melfort Clinic???? I was riding the chesnut mare.Well, I just thought I would say she is doing awsome and has not given me any trouble on anything since the clinic. We had a succesful year competing (Red River Rendezous- 4th in Barrels(17.03),Melfort Exhibition- 1st in Barrels(21.something), 3rd in Barrels(21.something) and 1st in pole bending. Our first pole bending pattern was quite embarrising. She totally forgot what my leg was and did her own thing. Oh well. She was tierd. She is also standing very quietly before we do our runs and also comes down to a walk very nicely when we are done our run. Her turns have impressed immensly. I have one more show but that one is with my other App. It is the Beaver Creek Appaloosa Show. Plus our camp with Brenda Clemens in about a week. So talk to ya' later..... -Mandy

I am from a little town in Namibia and around here people have no idea how to work with horses. you can't really blame them because they only do what has been taught to them by parents or by ignorant people. I would like to thank you for the articles on 'Problem Solving' - they realy made a differance to the way my horse leads and to the way I am going to work with horses in the future. I made a copy for all the 'horse people' in Keetmanshoop and I hope they will learn something from it. THANK YOU!!!!!

Hi Just an update about that little grey from the Melfort clinic. He has been an angel for the most part. At our 4-H achievement Day he placed first in all of his classes except for trail. He stops to think things over before he freaks out and he doesn't spook nearly as much as before. Thanks for that. Also the sorrel that tried flying changes, one Grand Aggregate at Achievement Day and is successfully doing flying lead changes. He also is a lot softer in the mouth and not as herd bound. Thanks again. Your methods really work. Kris

Just want to say thanks. And reading the other peoples replies in your guest book I just think anyone that does not believe in your method has never been to one of your clinics and really should attend one before being so negative Cain helped many horses and riders at the clinic. He helped them if they where having trouble but he also made them do it themselves therefore when they have trouble they can work it out on there own. And every horse no matter on how bad they seemed to be and believe me some of them where knot heads had saddles on and riding by a plastic tarp in three days. Now i have been around horses all my life and I still learned a lot from this clinic. Well this is getting a little long just thought people should know that they need to attend a clinic. Thanks again for a great three days and all the good advice. Ann and Andrea Devall

Enjoyed your site. I'm a Thoroughbred breeder and appreciate horsemen/women who take the time and have the patience to develop a young horse to it's full potential. It is a shame that only a few truely understand the horse and not use it to further their ego's. Thanks, I'll definitly drop in again.

what a fantastic site i will be sure to return regularly for new information...i have recently aquired a belgian weanling and have plans for her to become the greatest all round horse that ever lived HA!HA! seriously though,i'm sure that over my career with horses i have seen some of the most brutal methods of "breaking",schooling etc. i would like to devote the future to producing fantastic horses who perform...with their spirit still intact. your methods are exciting and a most welcome change to what most young riders and trainers alike have been exposed to. please let me know 1.when you might be holding clinics in my area(southern ontario) and i am also interested in what costs are involved in have you work personally with my filly. Thankyou, have a good day.

Our 4 yr old quarter horse mare just came back from 10 days with a trainer. While there, she attempted to flip the trainer- something she has NEVER done before when we have ridden her. Today we attempted to tack her up (the first time since she came home 2 days ago) and she panicked at the saddle pad. After some lunging and the lead rope chain over her nose, we were able to tack her up and ride. Were we correct in forcing her to tack up? She needs help, we need help with her.

Hello, how are you? You probaby don't remember me, but I'm the girl that had the horse that wouldn't get out of the circle and took you over the hill. Like I said that night at the theatre, the habit is still fixed, but I wanted to thank you again. I tried some of your things on my dad's horse though and I've had an immense imrpovement with him. I had my horse in dugout the other day, and he went in good after I went back and forth, back and forth a few times. It's a really effective theory. This weekend I'm going to take my horse to the lake and go swimming. So thanks again, and I hope to see you sometime. Karen Bligh
